When I was 8 years old I tried for the first time to write my autobiography…it was 8 pages long!
It has now been 18 years since that first draft, and I must say it hasn’t gotten much longer…or much better. But the urge to write and express myself on paper has never left me, so voila! I blog!
Why choose to write a blog about a spoonful of sugar? Good question!
First of all, I LOVE the movie Mary Poppins! I grew up watching that magical, endearing film as a little girl, singing the songs, and wishing I could be as lovely as Julie Andrews! (Nothing has changed since growing up, by the way…)
But growing up has taught me so many valuable lessons.
Having met many amazing and inspiring people in my life who have done heroic deeds or ventured into the vast world on adventurous exploits, I would have to say that my life story is not one to be found on the New York Times bestseller list.
But, on the other hand, it is a collection of precious moments, of dreams shattered and dreams come true, and of perseverance and hope…
Can you relate to that?
Although I am no Hollywood star or saintly Mother Theresa I have learned to find joy in the midst of sorrow, and to dream even when it seemed an impossible dream. And I think that is a lesson that I have-at least in part- learned from the magical Mary Poppins, who taught us that “just a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down…in the most delightful way!”
So why don’t you pour yourself a nice cup of tea (I like to add a spoonful of sugar to mine…or honey, now that I’m attempting to live healthier!) and allow these little doses of sweetness to brighten your day with laughter, inspiration, and hope.
I look forward to enjoying these sweet moments with you…
